Learning

I am pregnant for my first time, and its quite an experience. Lately I've been really intellectually "challenged", in the sense that I forget things (which is totally out of character for me), I cant think clearly, and am generally not thinking very much. But instead Ive had really strong emotional experiences and its really quite profound. Today I was in a total meditation all day while going about my work. It just happened like that. So I had access to some insights and i wanted to share one in particular with you.

It came to me that nobody really teaches us anything, like you cant really teach anyone else anything at all. People learn if they are open to learn, and only in a way that fits them. Learning in school is not real learning, not real knowledge, because all it is is trusting that what the teacher says is true, and memorizing it. But real knowledge is one that you verify yourself, and thats why nobody other than yourself can teach you. A real teacher is one that facilitates learning, but nobody can be a teacher unless someone wants to learn through them.

If this was accepted knowledge in our society, i think people would be a lot less oppressive towards each other. Young people would not be as discriminated. Parents wouldnt be as frustrated when their kids make "mistakes".

I was raised in a very intellectual environment where academics and intelligence meant everything. I had a high IQ but i didnt see how that was more valuable than for example a kind heart. Now that i am more of a mystic I am totally turned against everything that has to do with academics cuz the amout of joy and love i experienced by following my heart and sharing love with people just could never be achieved through academia and worldly advancement alone. And isnt the ultimate goal of everything joy and love?
